In order to ensure that the principles of sportsmanship,
fair play, skill development and mutual respect among players, managers,
coaches, umpires and spectators are the primary considerations governing
competitions in ANSLL, the following has been adopted by the Board
of Directors
- Make safety an absolute priority at all
times.
- Know and abide by the rules at all
times. Every manager and coach is responsible for reading, understanding
and at all times abiding by the Official Little League Regulations
and Playing Rules found in the appropriate Little League Rulebook
and as supplemented or amended by the Local Rules approved by the
ANSLL Board of Directors. No changes to the rules can be made without
advance approval of the Board, even if agreed upon by both managers.
- Attend ANSLL training and other ANSLL Board
approved training opportunities.
- Every manager must agree to be responsible
for any ANSLL equipment and uniforms issued to him or her and will
return all equipment to the League following the end of the season.
- No manager or coach may engage in
any activity, which creates or implies a conflict of interest.
- Every manager and coach must complete
the Official Little League Volunteer Application and agree to a
background check, which may include a review of criminal and child
abuse records.
- Every manager and coach is responsible
for ensuring all their team’s share of ANSLL volunteer duties
are fulfilled their corps of parents.
- Be prepared with an organized practice
regimen and game line-up prior to the start of each practice and
game.
- Every manager and coach must sign
and agree to abide by these Obligations and the ANSLL Code of Conduct
- Instruct the players in the rules and motivate
each player to compete according to the rules at all times.
- Respect the umpires regardless of
age and refrain from questioning their decisions in a disrespectful
or abusive manner.
- Ensure that fans of the team conduct
themselves with sportsmanship and maturity at the ball field and
assist the umpires in maintaining control of the spectators during
the game.
- Respect the coaches and players of the opposing team both during
play at the conclusion of the game, win or lose.
- Teach players to be humble and generous in victory
and proud and courteous in defeat. You set the example.
- Maintain control of your emotions and avoid actions, language
or gestures toward umpires, players or spectators which may be interpreted
as hostile or humiliating. Use of obscene language or gestures is
unsportsmanlike and will not be tolerated. Any such action is grounds
for immediate ejection.
- Accept responsibility and be accountable for the actions
of your players.
- Accept and practice the principle that a team’s reputation
is built not only on its playing ability but also on its sportsmanship,
courtesy and manner.
- Treat players fairly and in the spirit of Little League,
not merely by the letter of the rules.
- Recognize that playing time rules are considered minimums.
- Managers who become aware of anyone acting contrary to this
Code shall immediately direct them to stop.
Violations: Persons found violating this
Code during a game will be subject to ejection from the game. Any
manager or coach ejected from a game is automatically suspended
from that team’s next game. If at any time the conduct of
a manager or coach is determined to be detrimental and/or contrary
to the best interests of the league, the ANSLL Board of Directors
retains the right to suspend that person from participation of any
kind, and for whatever period of time is deemed reasonable and proper
by the ANSLL Board of Directors.
