Please let us know if your player has catchers gear in the comment section of the sign up.

We highly encourage that each catcher have someone with them to go through the drills that we will do. Our goal is to give ANSLL catchers drills that they can do at any practice, but more importantly at home.

We will be accepting a $10 donation for each player at the clinic.

Looking forward to seeing on the ball field.

ANSLL Partners with Positive Coaching Alliance to Benefit Youth Athletes

ANSLL has established a partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a national non-profit developing “Better Athletes, Better People” by working to provide all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building sports experience.

The partnership provides ANSLL access to PCA’s training for coaches, sports parents, student-athletes and administrators, comprising live group workshops, online courses, books by PCA Founder Jim Thompson and additional online resources, such as e-mailed follow-up tips and reminders.

PCA has partnered with roughly 3,500 youth sports organizations, schools, districts, conferences, and park-and-rec departments to create a Development ZoneTM culture, where the goal is using youth and high school sports to develop Better Athletes, Better People, Thompson said. “We look forward to working with ANSLL to create the best possible experience for the youth athletes. Our research-based materials combine the latest in sports psychology, education and practical advice from top pro and college coaches and athletes that help improve athletic performance while also ensuring kids take life lessons from sports that will help them throughout the rest of their lives.”

As part of this partnership, PCA will conduct two live workshops.  The first workshop is for the parents, and the second workshop is for the managers.  The Second-Goal Parent® workshop for the parents is scheduled for Sunday, February 9, and will coincide with the first player evaluation session for the majors-minors registrants.  The Double-Goal Coach® workshop for the managers is scheduled for Monday, March 16.  For information about the dates and locations, please contact the ANSLL Coaching Coordinator, Sean George, at .

PCA resources, which have reached more than 8.6 million youth, strive to transform high school and youth sports into a Development Zone® culture, where the goal is to develop Better Athletes, Better People and the following become the prevailing models in youth and high school sports:

  • The Double-Goal Coach®, who strives to win while also pursuing the more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports
  • The Second-Goal Parent®, who concentrates on life lessons, while letting coaches and athletes focus on competing
  • The Triple-Impact Competitor®, who strives to impact sport on three levels by improving oneself, teammates and the game as a whole.

Player Evaluations
by posted 01/23/2020

All Majors/Minors (AA and AAA) Registrants;

The Spring 2020 season is almost upon us.  All players registered for the 2020 Majors-Minors level of play must attend one of the two evaluation sessions. Players will be evaluated on their ability in batting, throwing, catching and running and placed on a team through a draft process.  All players who are league age 9 or older and registered for Majors-Minors will be selected to a AA, AAA or majors team.  Players attending evaluations younger than league age 9 and not selected to a minors team will be assigned to a farm (machine pitch) team.

Dates:  February 9 and February 23, 2020

Location: North Springfield Elementary School

Address: 7602 Heming Court, Springfield, VA 22151

Please proceed to the cafeteria for check-in.

Check-in:  Begins at 12:00pm and closes at 2:45pm

Evaluations will take place from 12:15 – 3:00pm

Check in for the evaluations will be in the cafeteria and the actual evaluations will take place in the gym. Parents will be required to wait in the cafeteria will their child is in the gym.

The evaluations are by "drop in" meaning you can check in any time between 12:00 and 2:45pm.  Please note that depending upon the number of players there may be a wait to complete the evaluations, but the actual time in the gym for the player will be approximately 10-15 minutes.

New this year - Returning Majors players DO need to attend one of the evaluation sessions.

What to Bring:  Players should wear sneakers (no cleats, slides, or dress shoes) and should bring their glove.  While we will have bats and helmets for the players to use, you are allowed to bring your own bat or helmet if you prefer.   The gyms tend to be cooler on the weekends so please dress appropriately.

If you have any question, please email Becky McCarthy at .
