County has closed all our fields, and if someone still is planning on a practice (I know who you are) then please do not go on the fields, including outfields.  If you want to practice in the parking lot that is up to you.

The lighting installation project will start on approximately June 14th.  A condition of the project is that the fields are to be available each night after 4:30 and no work can be performed on the weekends, so their should be no impact to field availability unless something unforeseen occurs.  The contractor has 120 days from the start of construction to finish the project.  There is the possibility that the lights might not be available until near the end of the fall season.  Please be aware that there are sometimes delays associated with Dominion Power and we have no control over when they will actually bring in the service.

Anticipation is building for the 2008 park bond project that will add lighting all six fields at Pine Ridge Park.  The project kicked off in September and is early in the design phase with completiion expected by fall 2010.

The addition of lights to athletic fields allows use into the evening and expands field use capacity. One rectangle field will be converted to turf.  Field lighting locations will include three diamond fields and three rectangular fields at Pine Ridge Park.

ROSTERS

This is the time of year that many will start to get anxious about what team their child is on and when they start practices.  Several kids will come home from school and hear their classmates talking about what team they are on and when they are going to practice.

Please be patient.  Not all roster go out at once.  In fact they go out in sequence, from Majors down to AA and the A-machine, Developmental and T-ball won't be out for another week after that. 

Here is a rundown of "when you should hear something".

Majors - Draft March 9th - notice by March 12
AAA - Draft March 13 - notice by March 15
AA - Draft March 17 - notice by March 18

A-machine, Developmental, T-ball rosters will be distributed at the manager's and coach's meeting that will be held March 23, so you should hear a few days after that.

Players league age 9 and above are required to attend one of the dates at the appropriate time.

It is very important to attend the appropriate time since the:

• Major's managers only attend the Majors times
• AAA managers attend both times
• AA managers only attend the AA times

December 2009 - Registration info to area schools

January 16th, 20th and 23rd - In-Person Registration (all players)

Feb 1 - Late Registration begins for Majors/AAA/AA (Add $20)

Feb 3rd - (Board Meeting) Calculate # of teams/managers needed for Majors/AAA/AA (Kid-pitch leagues)

Feb 21st and 28th - Tryouts/Evaluations Majors/AAA/AA (Kid-pitch leagues)

March 1 - Late Registration for A/Developmental and Tball

March 8th to 14th - Teams Drafted/Formed Majors/AAA/AA

March 12th to 20th - Practices begin

March 23rd - Manager & Coach's meeting (rosters go out to A/Dev/Tball)

April 10th - Opening Day
