ANSLL Playoffs / In-House Tournaments (before last day of public school) June

The in-house tournaments are held for ANSLL vs ANSLL regular season teams in the AA, AAA, and Majors divisions, all players on regular season teams in AA, AAA and Majors have the tournament schedule built into their season schedules. The tournaments are either a bracket or pool play format with a championship game on the final day of the season.  The method is determined prior to the season start by the ANSLL Director of League Operations (DOLO) based on the number of teams in each division. Typically these begin after Memorial Day and are scheduled to end before the last day of public school.

District 10 Tournaments (after public school ends) June - July

The Williamsport Tournament Committee governs all tournaments held at the District level and above.  The following guidelines are not intended to over rule a Little League rule.

The selection process will begin on May 1st of each year.  Players who have submitted a Tournament Commitment Form will be considered for Tournament Play.   Forms are distributed mid-April to the managers and collected by the managers and given to their Commissioners, so they can be tallied in time for the May Board Meeting.

ANSLL may participate in three of the District 10 tournaments, each division (American/National) will field a team based on available players:

  • 13/14 - Juniors only - 1 team
  • 11/12 – Majors only - 2 teams (American/National)
  • 10/11 – Majors/Minors - 2 teams (American/National)
  •  9/10 – Majors/Minors - 2 teams (American/National)

How are the District Tournament teams selected? What is their purpose?  (from the ANSLL FAQ page)

ANSLL Board of Directors select the method used for forming the teams, the June meeting is when most tournament discussion is on the agenda, although certain tournament decisions may be made throughout the year.
Majors and the 9-10 District Tournament play begins late June/early July and continues under a double-elimination system until one team wins the District 10 championship. The District 10 winner competes for the Virginia state title, the (Majors) state winner plays for the regional championship, and the regional champs go to the Little League World Series as seen on ESPN.   Teams are voted on by managers based on player ability and availability (not on vacation).

ANSLL forms District Tournament teams to participate in the District 10 Tournaments. Each squad consists of twelve available players elected from their respective League (American or National) from the Majors and AAA. ANSLL has sent 6 different teams to the respective District 10 tournaments. The Majors 12-11, the 11-10 and the 10-9 yr old tournaments were all participated in by ANSLL teams in years past. Tournament players must meet certain eligibility criteria, such as providing an original birth certificate (no other document will fulfill this requirement) for proof of age, and residence within the ANSLL boundaries.

Players in AAA and Majors need to complete the Tournament Commitment Form and turn it in to their managers.

Completing the form does not constitute a player is going to be on the team it only adds, or removes them if they say "no", from the pool of players eligible for selection to the team.

Chris (Little Santan) Santaniello led off the game with a screaming line drive to right center that had double written all over it, but the Fairfax National CF had other thoughts and made a great catch and ANSLL went quietly in the first with Jorge (Jorgito) Torres taking the hill.  Fairfax led off with back to back singles and ANSLL couldn't execute first and third plays that had the runners caught, but in turn led to 5 runs in the first two innings and ANSLL found themselves down 7-0 after two.

ANSLL was sent down in order until Andrew (Bubba) James lined one to left but ANSLL couldn't bring him around and still trailed by 5 going in the bottom. Fairfax loaded the bases in the third and Ryan (Mini-Ichiro) Peich came on in relief.  A passed ball, runner dashed home Bubba recovers and throws to Ryan goes head over heels covering the plate and pops up and shows the ball as the ump rings up the runner for the first out.  Matthew (Bergie T) Bergthold caught a popup at first and a tremendous catch by Harrison (Sparky) Jones at the warning track in CF closed out the inning with the score still 5-0.

Michiro walked to start the inning and then Jorgito ripped a triple to score Ryan and Bergie T pinch ran for Jorgito and scored on a fielders choice by Zack (Shaggy) Carmichael.  Tyler (Tyler) Krogel followed with a single but Faifax's pitcher settled down and struck out the next two to end the ANSLL rally at 7-2.

Fairfax took advantage of a few ANSLL errors and put 6 runs on the board over the last two innings to close out the game.  Bubba and Jorgito each had two hits for ANSLL.

ANSLL plays Tuesday, July 6th vs the ANSLL Nationals at Pine Ridge.
